Academy Program
The Apple Developer Academy is a unique learning experience at the intersection of creativity and technology that empowers all Detroiters to thrive in the world’s most vibrant app ecosystem. Participants learn the essentials of coding, design, and business with Apple tools in order to craft their own pathway in or with tech.
The Academy is a free 10-month program running from August-June. We meet for 20 hours a week (AM or PM), in-person, at our location in downtown Detroit.
Applications for the 2025-26 cohort are open!
You will be notified of your eligibility via email in early to mid-2025. The next Apple Developer Academy cohort will begin in August 2025.

What is the Apple Developer Academy?
The Apple Developer Academy in Detroit is a partnership between MSU and Apple. Individuals 18 or older have the opportunity to become a world-class developer using Apple's IOS ecosystem. The Academy focuses on coding, design, entrepreneurship, and essential professional skills. The Apple Developer Academy offers two programs, the main Academy and Foundations, that provide learners with the opportunity to build a foundation in these domains.

When will the program be held?
Apple Foundation Programs will be held: Oct. 7, 2024-June 6, 2025
There will be two class times - both are Monday through Friday. The available times are 8 a.m. to noon OR 1 to 5 p.m. (subject to availability). Attendance is required in-person at the Detroit location at 660 Woodward Ave., Suite 200, Detroit, MI 48226. Registration is first-come-first-serve.

How long is the program?
The Foundation Program is 20 hours a week for 4 weeks.

Our application process is to submit your interest form.
If eligible, you will be asked to participate in an interview. -
What are the benefits of participating in the program?
The Apple Foundation Program at the Apple Developer Academy in Detroit introduces learners to the basics of app development: research, design, user experience, prototyping, and intro to coding with Swift.
At the Academy, you will learn to navigate the app economy: coding with Swift, UI/UX design, tech entrepreneurship, and project management. You will also have the opportunity to practice professional skills like collaboration, public speaking, or interviewing.

No. The program is free to attend.

Is this a job guarantee program?
MSU/ADA does not guarantee job placement. You will have access to employable opportunities.
