As the Manager for the Renaissance (2nd year) program at the Academy, Theo provides leadership and mentorship to program participants as they prepare to transition away from the Academy and into their new pathways. He also works to ensure program implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with the learning outcomes of the program. Theo also supports the DEI objectives for the Academy as it relates to the recruitment and selection of Academy staff and learners.
Prior to joining the Academy Theo served as the Assistant Dean for Inclusion and Diversity in the College of Engineering at MSU. In this role, he leveraged skills in student recruitment and retention, academic advising, career development, event/program planning, data analysis and fundraising to manage inclusion and diversity efforts focused on recruitment and retention of undergraduate students and cultural competency training for faculty and staff.
Theo graduated from Samuel C. Mumford High School in Detroit, MI. He attended MSU, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Advertising (1996) and later Jones International University, where he earned a master’s degree in Higher Education, Leadership and Administration (2011). When not in the Academy, you can find Theo spending time with his family and losing golf balls on a golf course.
I would hope they would say that I am a level-headed, solutions-oriented teammate!

Since I was a kid watching movies, I was always interested in the tech…it could have been Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber, Captain Kirk’s phaser or Batman’s utility belt…I always thought the tech made life easier…I’m hoping to prove that in my work at the Academy!
